Meditate on Water

Meditate on water, especially moving water. Water is hypnotic to watch, allowing our minds to relax and open. Water can be a metaphor for just about anything. Water is primordial, as we’ve modeled our lives around its movements throughout our evolution. Water comprises the majority of our bodies, so we behave in subtly and surprisingly similar ways. Water is healing, cleansing, life-giving. Without water, scientists suspect planets can’t even support life. Thus, water is synonymous with life. Water is fun to play in. Water is refreshing. Water tastes good. Water is soft but powerful.

Water can teach us a great many unexpected lessons if we watch its movements long enough. It’s valuable to spend a few minutes meditating on water now and then.
