Gardens Do a Lot

Gardens keep us healthy. Gardens provide independence from stores, supply chains, the outside world. Gardens save us money. Gardens keep us learning. Gardens are fun. Gardens are tasty. Gardens support the local ecosystem, even in a city. Gardens slow water runoff, reducing floods. Gardens are easy. Gardens are relaxing and meditative. Gardens are beautiful. Gardens build strong communities.

Gardens need to be part of how we restructure society as we individually and collectively recover from the pandemic, quarantine, and recession. I can imagine a world where every house, every yard, and even every apartment balcony and patio has virtually no lawn, and instead has large rambunctious gardens full of delicious food. Cities can be sprawling food forests, with healthy, tasty meals growing everywhere we look. Go plant something today.
