These three short stories are part of a larger collection of related stories that all take place over several centuries in the same fictional universe, mostly on or about Mars and a post-apocalyptic Earth.
Here’s another sci-fi story that doesn’t take place in the above fictional universe. Stay tuned for more stories like this, as I have several that are nearly finished as of April 2024.

I post most of my essays in my blog (i.e., the home page of this website). However, the personal essays below are narratives that are longer and less conceptual, so they fit better here.
Hot Sun and Black-winged Angels – I wrote this in 2008. It’s an oldie but still it still inspires me.
My Bucolic Frolic: a Country Kid Goes Home – I wrote this one in 2008 also. It’s one of the best essays I’ve ever written.
The Last Chili Pequin – I wrote this in 2013.
