It’s easier to abstain from distraction completely than to try to indulge just a little. Moderation is difficult when mediums, devices, and entire economies have been specifically engineered to hook our attention. If we want to reduce time spent on social media, Netflix, video games, the news, etc. so we can be more productive and more present, then it’s often best to go cold turkey and cut out the distraction altogether.
This might be the only way to beat the distraction engineers in the struggle for our limited and valuable attention.
